An application to build a worker RV camp at a local construction business has been withdrawn, according to Valley County Planning and Zoning officials.

Knife River, formerly known as Masco Inc., did not give a reason for withdrawing its application, P&Z Administrator Cynda Herrick said.

Criticism from neighbors forced the P&Z to delay its decision until last Thursday, but the item was stricken from the agenda.

Knife River had asked to build 15 RV spaces on its premises in the industrial zone on the east side of Idaho 55 south of McCall between Pearson Lane and Knob Hill Drive. The facility was to provide the company's seasonal employees a place to live close to work.

Neighbors claimed a worker camp would blight their neighborhood and constitute a health and safety hazard.

Knife River did not respond to a message left by The Star News about its reasons for the withdrawal.
