Dogs' Days garage sale, auction, raffle events to benefit MCPAWS
 | Aug23, 2007
THE STAR NEWS

A silent auction on Friday will kick off the double-weekend "Dogs' Days" good-stuff, community happening garage sale, auction and raffle to benefit MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter.

Sponsored by the MCPAWS Wine Club, the auction will be laid out in front of the event's showroom in the former Woodsman Cafe Building at 402 North Third Street in McCall.

Starting at 5 p.m. Friday, shoppers can view the many auction items, sip a bit of donated wine and wander inside for a preview of the items in the general good-stuff sale, which will start at 9 a.m. the following morning, Saturday. Aug. 25. The auction will wrap up just before 7 p.m. Friday evening, and winners may remove their prizes on the spot.

The "good-stuff garage sale" will take place over two successive weekends, this weekend and Sept. l-2. Rather than offer a repeat sale of unsold items from one week to the next, the organizers will stage two separate sales, refreshing the collection with previously undisplayed items for the Labor Day weekend.

Each Saturday the doors will open at 9 a.m. and volunteers will close up at 4 p.m. On Sundays, everything unsold the previous day will be either half-price or free. Pam and Rich Bush, owners of McCall Coffee Roasters, will be on site for the first Saturday opening, selling coffee drinks all day, with all proceeds going to MCPAWS.

The entire event wraps up at 4 p.m. on Sept. 3, Labor Day, with a drawing at Mountain Monkey Business, for a $500 shopping spree at Mountain Monkey Business, combined with a $100 drink card from Mountain Java. Tickets cost $5 each, or five for $20.

Raffle tickets are available at Mountain Monkey Business, McCall Drug, McCall Pet Outfitters and at MCPAWS, as well as on the evening of the auction and throughout the general sale at The Woodsman building. Winners do not need to be present.

Donations will be welcome until the Friday before the sale weekends. Those who have items to make available to MCPAWS supporters should call either Kathy Gyurkey at 630-8811 or Janet Fleming at 720-0599.

Many volunteers will be needed at the sale, and those wishing to contribute their time should call Nancy Harvey at 208-634-4374.
