Meadows Valley Days: the most fun you can have around
a bunch of people with chainsaws

End your summer on a high note by attending the 42nd Annual Meadows Valley Days in New Meadows this weekend..

The traditional Labor Day weekend event will feature parades, food, fun, a car show and the famous Meadows Valley Days Logging Show.

On Saturday, the Kids Parade and Show will begin at 11 a.m. and march through the center of town. That will be followed up by the junior and senior burling contest starting at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, a community worship service e will begin the day at 8 a.m., followed by a pie sale starting at 10 a.m. at the New Meadows Senior Citizen Center.

The main Meadows Valley Days parade begin at 11 a.m. with the region's largest car show to follow.

The famous Meadows Valley Days barbecue will start at noon. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6 to 12 and $5 for ages 5 and younger.

The main event of the weekend, the Meadows Valley Days Logging Show, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Dorsey Warr Memorial Park.

Loggers and those who dream of being loggers will test their skills at various events using axes, cross-cut saws and chainsaws. Admission is free.

The weekend will end on Monday with the Rebekah Lodge Hillbilly Breakfast held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Meadows Valley High School.

An arts and crafts fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Call Dave Havsgaard at 628-2387 for information on registration.

There will also be a three-story slide throughout the weekend, and the Meadows Valley Public Library will hold a book sale both days.

Live music will be featured all day on Saturday with a "Battle of the Bands" contest to be held.

For information on any Meadows Valley Days event, call 347-2448 or New Meadows City Hall at 347-2171. Competitors will show off the unique skills of the logging industry during Sunday's Meadows Valley Days Logging Show.
