The Southern Idaho Mycological Association invites anyone interested in finding and identifying fall mushrooms to participate in its annual Fall Foray Sept. 27-30 in McCall.
A foray is mushroom lingo for an organized hunt for all types of fungi - both edible and non-edibles. The mushrooms are then identified and added to the list of almost 2,500 species of mushrooms found in the greater McCall area.
Morel Mushrooms - very tasty! |
Full registration for seven meals and three nights lodging at the Quaker Hill Lakeside cabin is $80. There is also a daily rate of $40 that includes meals. To register only for a daily foray, evening meal and workshop is $20.
The Saturday night dinner is potluck, so bring a salad, side or dessert. Rates for children and college students are available on request.
Workshops will include the basics on how to properly identify mushrooms, as well as planning for the 2008 North America Mycological Association foray that SIMA will be hosting in McCall.
This will be a major undertaking, and volunteers for national conference are greatly needed.
