(Following is an update of the 2008 McCall Winter Carnival, to be held Jan. 25 to Feb. 3).
Teams of artists are invited to take part in the 22nd annual Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championship to be held Jan. 29 through Feb. 1, which is midweek of the 2008 McCall Winter Carnival.
A total of $1,500 in prize money will be given away to teams of three persons or less, all of who must be over age 21.
Competition sponsors provide snow blocks 5-by-5-by-8 feet in downtown McCall, and sculptors are given 3-1/2 days to create a work of art.
No power tools or torches are permitted, only snow and water. Teams need to provide their own tools and transportation, but lodging and meals will be provided by event organizers.
Tickets to go on sale Monday for harmonica festival
Tickets will go on sale Monday for the 2007 Yellow Pine Harmonica Festival, to be held as part of the 2008 McCall Winter Carnival.
Harmonica organizers have announced that Idaho First Bank has signed on to become the exclusive source for advance ticket reservations to the festival. The event will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2, at The Pancake and Christmas House starting at 4 p.m. each day.
Tickets are $20 for both days and can be reserved by phone by calling (208) 630-2025. Tickets can be picked up or purchased at Idaho First Bank on Deinhard Lane across from the McCall Post Office.
Any reserved tickets must be picked up at the bank by Friday, Febuary 1. In addition to being able to reserve tickets in advance, listeners of KMCL radio Mountain Air 101 will be able to win tickets during the on-air promotion of the event the week of Winter Carnival.
Vendors wanted for Holiday Inn craft & chocolate fair
The Craft Faire and Chocolate - Yum! event is seeking vendors of quality handmade items, quality home decorating items and foods with chocolate. The event will be at Holiday Inn Express - The Hunt Lodge during the McCall Winter Carnival. Dates are Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27, and Friday and Saturday, Feb. l-2.
