Burgdorf is both a hot springs and ghost town. Remains of cabins and an old hotel can be seen in a meadow on private land surrounded by the Payette National Forest. Accessible in winter only by snowmobile or cross-country ski. Burgdorf offers eighteen rustic cabins for rent ranging from 70 to 132 years old.
Burgdorf is located about 30 miles north of McCall. The hot spring dates back to the 1862 when Fred Burgdorf owned it. In 1920, Fred sold the property to James Harris who named the resort after its previous owner and it has remained in the Harris family for over 80 years.
The Main Attraction is the large 75x50, 5 feet deep natural hot spring complete with sandy bottom and log sides. There is also a child's pool that is slightly cooler and only 2 feet deep. If you're really adventurous try the "Hot Box" where mineral water exits the earth at a sweltering 113 degrees. For the Adventurous hike, cross-country ski or snowshoe into "Crystal Peak" an amazing 15 acres of crystal only 2 miles from Burgdorf. Keep your eyes open for elk, moose and bears on the drive in!
Burgdorf has 13 Cabins with beds, wood stoves, kerosene lamps, and outhouses. There is a phone but no electricity. Bring your own bedding, food, cookware, etc.
